Statistics

The Financial Ombudsman Service was established on 1 July 2008 by merging the former Banking & Financial Services Ombudsman, Financial Industry Complaints Service and Insurance Ombudsman Service.

The Financial Ombudsman Service is a national service that handles over 80% of financial disputes in Australia.

As part of our commitment to providing free, fair and transparent dispute resolution processes, this page will provide regular information including the number and types of cases received by the Financial Ombudsman Service, how cases are resolved and the time taken to resolve cases.

These statistics will also be published in the Financial Ombudsman Service Annual Report.
