Using the FOS logo

 

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) Australia wishes to clarify how members may use the FOS logo.

FOS is an independent EDR scheme. Consequently, you must not use the FOS logo in any way that implies endorsement of any financial services provider, their products or financial and other services in general communications, including business cards, letterheads, emails, websites and other promotional material.

However, members will be aware of the need to ensure their customers are aware of FOS and that they may bring a dispute to us under ASIC Regulatory Guide 165. Members must also include our contact details in their Financial Services Guide or Credit Guide. In keeping with this principle, members may and are encouraged to use the new Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) Australia logo, and all the other relevant FOS contact details (including our new 1800 367 287 number) solely for the purposes of advising clients of their rights to contact FOS.

Members are reminded that as they are updating their communications to advise their customers about FOS, you should include our new free call number: 1800 367 287 (or 1800 FOS AUS), and refer to us as the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) Australia. Members were advised last year that we added Australia to our name to better communicate we are a National service.

The old FOS 1300 number (cost of a local call from landlines) is still operational, and will remain in place for a number of years- to give members time to update their communications.
